At It’s Me Lisa G, some of our personalised products are created using our independently developed AI-assisted design tools.
This includes personalised colouring books, where photographs supplied by you may be used as visual references to create illustrated versions of your child, family members or other people you choose to include.
We know that sharing photographs, particularly photographs of children, is personal. This page explains what we ask for, why we need it and what happens to it.
What information will we ask for?
Depending on the personalised product you order, we may ask you to provide:
- Photographs of the child or person who will feature in the product
- Photographs of additional family members or other people you would like included
- First names
- Age or age range where this helps us create age-appropriate artwork
- A description of appearance
- Interests, favourite things, hobbies or activities
- Details about the type of scenes you would like included
- Words, themes or situations you would prefer us to avoid
- For products containing text, information needed to create appropriate sentences or a personalised story
We only ask for information that is relevant to creating the product you have ordered.
How are photographs used?
Your photographs are used as reference images to help create personalised illustrated artwork.
For example, photographs may help the generator understand features such as hair style and colour, facial features, glasses, clothing style, approximate age, and which family members or other people should appear together.
The finished artwork is a personalised illustrated likeness inspired by the photographs you provide. It is not an exact copy, photographic replica or guaranteed pixel-for-pixel match. Features such as expression, pose, clothing, hair and other details may vary between illustrations. Providing several clear reference photographs can help us create more varied artwork while keeping the person recognisable.
Our AI-assisted generator
Our colouring books and other eligible personalised products are produced using an independently developed AI-assisted generation system created specifically for our workflow.
AI technology is used as part of the creative process to turn the information and reference photographs you provide into personalised illustrations.
Paid OpenAI API processing and production costs
Our independently developed generator currently connects to the OpenAI API as part of the image-generation process.
This is a paid, usage-based service rather than unlimited free image generation. Each image generation, edit or necessary re-generation uses paid API processing. The amount of processing used can vary depending on the request, reference images and the number of attempts needed to produce suitable artwork.
These genuine generation costs, together with the time involved in preparing, reviewing and assembling your personalised product, are reflected in the price of the finished book. We do not add a separate AI-generation charge after you order.
Your photographs are supplied specifically for the purpose of fulfilling your order.
We do not use customer photographs to train our own generator.
We do not use customer photographs for advertising, social media or promotional material unless you have separately and specifically given us permission to do so.
Ordering a personalised product does not give us permission to use your child's image for marketing.
Photographs of children
An adult aged 18 or over must place the order and complete the personalisation form.
By uploading a photograph of a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent, legal guardian, or otherwise have appropriate authority to provide the photograph for the purpose of creating the personalised product.
Please only provide photographs and personal information that are necessary for creating your order.
You do not need to provide us with a child's medical diagnosis in order to purchase a personalised colouring book.
If you are ordering a book designed to support a particular routine, event or social situation, you can simply explain what you would like the book to help with.
Photographs of other people
If you upload photographs of another identifiable person, you must have their permission, or appropriate authority where the person is a child, to provide their photograph for this purpose.
Please do not upload photographs of people who have not agreed to be included.
Social stories and additional needs
Some of our personalised books can include simple sentences designed around routines, new experiences or situations a child may find helpful to explore.
We may ask questions about the situation, what normally happens and what language or approach works best for your child.
We deliberately try to avoid collecting unnecessary medical information.
Please do not provide diagnoses, medical reports or other health information unless it is genuinely necessary for the personalisation you are requesting.
Our personalised books are creative products. They are not medical, therapeutic, diagnostic or professional healthcare advice.
Consent during your order
Because photographs are central to these personalised products, we will ask you to confirm your permission more than once.
You may be asked to confirm this when purchasing the personalised product, before proceeding through the ordering process, and when completing your personalisation and photo-upload form.
This is so that the way your photographs will be used is clear before you provide them.
What happens to my photographs after my order?
We keep uploaded reference photographs only for as long as they are needed to create and complete your personalised order.
Once your personalised order has been completed and the photographs are no longer required for that purpose, they are deleted from the active systems we control.
We do not keep a permanent library of children's photographs for possible future projects.
If you place another personalised order in the future, you may therefore need to upload your photographs again.
Certain transaction and order records may need to be retained for accounting, tax, legal or customer-service purposes. These records are separate from the reference photographs used to create your artwork.
What about the finished colouring book?
Your finished personalised product is separate from the original photographs you uploaded.
We may need to retain the completed order file for a reasonable period so that we can fulfil your order, resolve delivery problems or deal with an issue you report to us.
We will not publish or use your personalised book as marketing material without obtaining separate permission from you.
Who can access the information?
Access is limited to the systems and services required to receive your personalisation information, process your uploaded photographs, generate the personalised artwork, assemble the finished product and deliver your order.
Our personalised-book system uses third-party technology and infrastructure as part of this process. This currently includes the OpenAI API for AI-assisted image generation and editing.
OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. OpenAI may retain API customer content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, unless a different approved data-retention setting applies or longer retention is required for legal or safety reasons. This provider-level retention is separate from the copies of photographs stored in systems controlled directly by It’s Me Lisa G.
We do not sell your photographs or personalisation information.
Please don't send us more information than we need
For your privacy, please avoid uploading school records, medical reports, identification documents, passports or birth certificates, home addresses within photographs, documents showing private information, or any other information that is not required to create the product.
A clear photograph of the person you would like illustrated is normally all we need.
Your privacy rights
You can contact us if you have a question about information supplied for a personalised order or would like to exercise a data protection right that applies to your information.
Depending on the circumstances, these rights can include asking us to explain what personal information we hold, correct inaccurate information, delete information we no longer need, restrict certain uses of your information, or provide information about how your data has been processed.
Please contact It’s Me Lisa G through our website contact details and include your order number so we can identify the relevant order.
Changing your mind
If you contact us before personalised artwork has been generated, we will do our best to stop processing the photographs and information supplied for that order.
Because personalised products are made specifically for you, cancellation and refund rights may differ once work has begun. Please see our Refund Policy and the individual product listing for the terms that apply to your order.
