🖨️ Designed For Multi-Colour 3D Printing

This isn't simply an STL dropped into a slicer.

The supplied multi-colour file has already been prepared and tested as a complete print project, including the separate cup sections, lid, handle and colour detailing.

The design is split across 3 print plates, which also helps keep the multi-colour printing manageable.

Although the complete design uses 5 colours, all 5 colours are not required simultaneously.

This means the project can be printed using a standard 4-slot AMS, with filament colours changed between plates where required.

⏱️ My Print Results

Printed on a Bambu Lab P2S with a 0.4mm nozzle.

My final sliced project came to approximately:

♡ Plate 1 – 9 hours 2 minutes
♡ Plate 2 – 1 hour 54 minutes
♡ Plate 3 – 3 hours 13 minutes

Total Print Time: Approx. 14 Hours 10 Minutes

Total filament in my final slice:

Model: 219.69g
Supports: 2.61g
Purge: 44.19g
Prime Tower: 0.37g
Total: approximately 266.85g

Please remember that print times and filament usage will vary depending on your printer, filament, slicer version and individual settings.

♻️ Purge / Filament Waste

One of the things I specifically worked on while preparing this file was the purge waste.

Multi-colour printing can VERY quickly turn into a poop mountain 😂, especially on the detailed artwork section where there are a lot of filament changes.

Rather than simply leaving the flushing at the more conservative default levels, I adjusted the purge/flush volumes for my colour combination to reduce unnecessary waste while still maintaining clean colour changes.

My completed project used approximately 44.19g of purged filament across the entire print.

For context, the main multi-colour plate contains 151 filament changes, so getting the flushing under control made a considerable difference.

IMPORTANT

Purge requirements depend heavily on the colours and filament brands you use.

For example, moving from black into a very pale colour may require more flushing than moving between similar shades.

The settings supplied worked for my pictured filament combination, but I strongly recommend checking the Flushing Volumes in Bambu Studio after assigning your own filaments.

Do not assume that the lowest possible purge value will work for every colour combination.

You absolutely do not have to copy my colours.

Change them, remix them and create your own sunset palette. 🌅

The colour placement has already been designed into the multi-colour project, making it much easier to substitute your own filament choices.

The finished cup is designed as a reusable holder for a standard UK 330ml drinks can.

Your drinks can sits inside the printed holder rather than drinking directly from the 3D printed cup.
