♡ CRIME SCENE PADLOCK JOURNAL 3MF

Create your own statement journal with this fun pink crime-scene themed 3D printable journal set.

The project includes a matching front and back cover featuring warning tape, fingerprints, splatters and crime-scene inspired graphics, together with a really cute padlock-style binding system.

Instead of ordinary binder rings, each journal hole uses a separate D-ring which snaps into its matching padlock base.

The PETG gives the D-ring the flexibility needed for the snap-fit action, while the journal covers themselves are printed in PLA.

The project is organised into 3 prepared plates:

Everything required for the printed journal shell and binding system is included in one 3MF project.

Paper, inserts and other physical accessories are not included.

♡ SIZE

The journal covers measure approximately:

153 × 210 × 3 mm

This gives you an A5-style cover with a little extra width around standard A5 pages.

The file uses a 6-hole journal layout.

Individual binding parts are approximately:

♡ Padlock Base: 35 × 35 × 8.5 mm
♡ D-Ring: 23.3 × 29.8 × 3.1 mm

Please check your preferred paper or inserts before printing if you are using something other than standard A5-style 6-hole journal pages.

♡ HOW THE PADLOCK BINDING WORKS

Each binding is made from two parts:

D-Ring + Padlock Base

Thread the D-ring through the matching holes in your:

Front Cover → Journal Pages/Inserts → Back Cover

Then press the ends of the D-ring into the padlock base to create the snap-fit closure.

You receive 6 complete binding sets, one for each journal hole.

The padlock design is a decorative padlock-style journal binding rather than a security lock.

♡ MATERIALS

For best results I recommend:

PADLOCK BASES + D-RINGS

♡ PETG

PETG is recommended for the snap-fit binding parts because it has more flexibility than standard PLA.

IMPORTANT: The supplied project contains the plate named “Padlocks Petg”, but please check your filament assignments before printing and change this plate to your preferred PETG profile.

If printing the heart detail on the padlock in a second colour, I recommend using PETG for both colours on that part.

♡ PRINT SETTINGS

The supplied project has been prepared using the following starting settings:

♡ Printer used for project setup: Bambu Lab P2S
♡ Nozzle: 0.4 mm
♡ Layer height: 0.20 mm
♡ Walls: 2
♡ Infill: 20%
♡ Infill pattern: Aligned Rectilinear
♡ Supports: OFF / not required
♡ Brim: None
♡ Plate: Textured PEI Plate

For the PLA portions, the saved project uses:

♡ Nozzle: 220°C
♡ Bed: 55°C

For the PETG padlock and D-ring parts, please use the recommended temperature/profile for your own PETG filament, as brands can vary.

Always check your slicer preview and filament assignments before sending the project to your printer.

♡ MULTICOLOUR PRINTING

The journal artwork has been prepared as a multicolour 3MF project.

The supplied colour scheme is pink, red, dark accents and light/white details, but you absolutely do not have to keep my colours.

Swap them for whatever suits your style ♡

To reproduce the multicolour design automatically as supplied, you will need an AMS, MMU or equivalent multicolour printing system.

If you prefer, you can also reassign the colours within your slicer and create your own version.

♡ 3MF FILE INFORMATION

This is supplied as a 3MF project rather than individual STL files so the prepared plates, model arrangement and multicolour information can be kept together.

The project was prepared in Bambu Studio.

Bambu Studio users should see the prepared plate arrangement and colour information when opening the file.

Other 3MF-compatible slicers may be able to import the models, but printer-specific settings, filament assignments or colour painting may not always transfer exactly between different slicer programs.

Please check your printer and slicer compatibility before printing.

♡ LITTLE PRINT TIP

I recommend printing one D-ring and one padlock base first before committing to all six.

Snap-fit tolerances can vary slightly depending on:

♡ Printer calibration
♡ PETG brand
♡ Flow settings
♡ First-layer accuracy

The D-ring should snap securely into the padlock base without needing excessive force.

Once you're happy with your test fit, print the remaining set and build your journal ♡
