♡ TAPERED INSERT BUILD CUP STL FILES

Create your own screw-together 3D printed tapered cup using this digital STL file set.

The design is made in separate Bottom, Middle and Top sections, which screw together to form the tapered outer cup. Two lid options are included so you can choose between a completely closed lid or a lid with a straw opening.

The internal cavity has been designed specifically around a tapered 350ml stainless steel insert, giving you a reusable metal inner cup inside your 3D printed design.

Perfect for makers wanting to print their own cup designs for personal use or to create finished physical products to sell.

Please note: this is a DIGITAL STL FILE purchase. No physical cup, insert or printed product will be posted.

♡ WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

Your download includes:

♡ STAINLESS STEEL INSERT SIZE

This design has been created around a tapered 350ml stainless steel insert measuring approximately:

♡ Bottom outside diameter: 55mm
♡ Top/rim outside diameter: 83mm
♡ Overall height: 105mm

The printed cup itself is approximately:

♡ 112.4mm assembled height
♡ Approx. 71mm diameter at the base
♡ Approx. 103mm diameter at the top

I strongly recommend using an insert matching the measurements above, as cups advertised as the same capacity can vary between manufacturers.

♡ INSERT I USE

Please always check the measurements on the product listing before ordering in case the supplier changes the specification.

♡ HOW IT GOES TOGETHER

The cup is split into three main body sections:

Bottom → Middle → Top → Lid

Each section screws into the next to create the finished tapered cup.

The file includes two lid choices:

♡ Standard closed lid
♡ Lid with straw hole

This sectional design also gives you loads of options for mixing filament colours between the Bottom, Middle, Top and Lid.

♡ RECOMMENDED PRINT SETTINGS

These are my recommended starting settings for this design:

♡ Material: PLA
♡ Nozzle: 0.4mm
♡ Layer height: 0.16–0.20mm
♡ Wall loops: 3–4
♡ Infill: 15–20%
♡ Speed: Standard
♡ Ironing: Off, especially while testing thread fit
♡ Supports: Generally not required when printed in the intended orientation – always check your slicer preview
♡ Brim: Optional if your printer needs additional bed adhesion

PRINT ORIENTATION

For best results:

♡ Bottom: Base flat on the build plate
♡ Middle: Female/open threaded end on the build plate
♡ Top: Female/open threaded end on the build plate
♡ Lid: Flat roof/top surface on the build plate with the female threaded opening facing upwards

Because this design uses printed screw threads, printer calibration, filament and extrusion settings can all affect the final fit.

I recommend printing the Bottom and Middle first and checking that the first screw connection works nicely before printing the complete set. Everything worked perfectly for me on first print, but all printers and filament are different.

Do not force a thread that feels excessively tight.
